Christmas market in Düsseldorf evacuated this afternoon after “external threat”, police present en masse

In Düsseldorf, in western Germany, police evacuated the Christmas market in the city center this afternoon after a possible threat. All attendees had to leave the market at about 3 p.m. and several streets were closed off. Heavily armed police officers were on site in large numbers, a witness tells our editors. The roadblocks were lifted around 6 p.m., but the Christmas market will remain closed all evening, reports the ‘Rheinische Post’.
