In a year that was full of praise for Taylor Swift (well, not quite), there’s more support from a famous colleague. Chrissie Hynde has revealed she was very happy to see the singer live at Wembley Stadium in London this year.
The Pretenders frontwoman split X a whole list of her favorites of the year, and one of them was Swift’s “Eras” tour trip to the island in the summer. The concert was “beautiful and inspiring,” wrote the 73-year-old. But she was also very impressed by the Ukrainian rock band Okean Elzy, which she saw at the Forum in London.
Also a lot of praise for an emotional tribute show
Hynde also mentioned Mark Lanegan’s London tribute show earlier this month, where she performed alongside Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme, Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan and Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie. The former Screaming Trees singer, who was also part of QOTSA, died in February 2022 at the age of 57.
But it wasn’t just music that inspired Hynde this year. She obviously also enjoyed the film “Conclave” by “All Quiet on the West” director Edward Berger, which could also play a role at the Oscars. She wrote: “I have seen it three times in the cinema. A great thriller. Definitely a film for the big screen. Stunning images and much more.”
But back to Taylor Swift one last time this year. From the moment their “Eras” tour crashed Ticketmaster, the world knew it would be the biggest concert event of the year. Now, almost two years after the tour began, it has come to an end – with historic revenue and as the largest pop event of its kind. ROLLING STONE has therefore compiled the 40 best moments of the historic concert journey.
