CHL: Adler Mannheim early in the round of 16

The Adler Mannheim have once again demonstrated their top form in the Champions Hockey League and secured their ticket to the round of 16 early.

The team from the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) deservedly won 3-2 (2-2, 0-0, 1-0) on home ice against the French representatives Rouen Dragons on Wednesday evening and celebrated their fourth success in their fifth CHL game .

Jordan Murray (2nd), David Wolf (12th) and Tyler Gaudet (52nd) scored the goals for Mannheim, who had already completely convinced on Monday in a 6-0 win over the previously unbeaten Finnish former champion Lukko Rauma now consolidated their second place in the main round table. Loic Lampier (16th/17th) was successful with a double strike for Rouen, who still have to wait for their second win in the CHL.

The current CHL season will be played in a new mode. Instead of 32, only 24 teams are taking part. These will not be divided into groups as before, but will be listed in an overall table in a “regular season” (August 31st to October 18th). Each team only plays once against six different opponents in three home and away games. The best 16 teams advance to the knockout rounds.

The German champions Red Bull Munich and runners-up ERC Ingolstadt also have good chances of reaching the round of 16 in seventh and tenth place respectively before the final main round match day.
