Pitti Bimbo 98 took place from January 17th to 19th, 2024 and presented children’s fashion for the FW24 season. It is considered the most important children’s fashion trade fair in Europe, both in terms of its size and the quality of the brands on display. Many companies participating in the trade fair adhere to GOTS (The Global Organic Textile Standard), whose label guarantees environmentally conscious consumers responsible manufacturing practices for organic textiles. GOTS certification requires that the products contain a high proportion of organic fibers and that the use of synthetic and regenerated fibers is restricted. It focuses on sustainable production methods that minimize the use of chemicals and environmental impact.
One of the highlights of Pitti Bimbo has always been the fashion show, which took place again last season after a break during the pandemic. Eight labels – Appulu, Haidænd’si:k, Infantium Victoria, Kombizona Kids, Pype, Raspberryplum, Upa and Walkiddy – showed looks from their FW24 collections in the “Petite Parade”. The show offered a wealth of trend inspiration as well as key seasonal items.
One of the most important themes in children’s fashion this season can be summed up with the Danish word “Hygge”, which conveys the idea of cozy conviviality. It encompasses a feeling of contentment and well-being with shapes that are cozy and enveloping and have a touch of vintage style.
Outerwear
Whether coats made of wool, faux fur or nylon, they were usually in cocoon shapes. The colors ranged from subtle to bright and playful. The exhibitors at Pitti Bimbo also showed coats with contrasting lining.
Cocoon-like quilted nylon puffer jackets are a key key item.
Faux fur and shearling will be key fabrics for FW24.
Dresses for everyday life
Girls’ dresses were vintage-style and could resemble a layered apron or be a two-piece suit.
Vintage style party dresses
RaspberryPlum’s layered tulle party dresses with cowboy boots looked adorable.
Knitted sweater
Sweaters for FW24 have a hygge appeal when they’re hand-knitted and made from the softest wool. Infantium Victoria used space-dyed popcorn knits for a sweater set, while Haidænd’si:k showed textured layers of varying lengths with 3D embellishments.
Party tops
Blouses made from soft organic materials become elegant with ruffles on the collar or 3D decorations.
Jogging suits
Walkiddy showed slim-fitting olive-khaki cotton sweaters updated with a playful whale print.
