The construction of the children’s field route in Zwinderen is canceled. The intention was that a route came with a watchtower, a climbing wall and other playground equipment.
The project was part of the program Fit and Vitaal Coevorden 2023-2026. During the preparations, the municipality worked together with Local Interest Zwinderen. Discussions were also held with other stakeholders. According to the municipality, immediate local residents did not like this. “They had questions about possible nuisance and the location of the route,” the municipality said in a letter to the council.
Local Interest Zwinderen says it is one person who is against the Beleefroute: “The whole village liked it. There was an adjacent resident who started to make Stampij and the municipality had no appetite,” says Edward Petrovics of Local Interest Zwinderen.
The municipality of Coevorden contradicts this. “Objections have been received from several people,” said a spokesperson for the municipality.
Even after a few adjustments to the plan, according to the municipality, there was still insufficient support in the village. “A device has been scrapped, the route has been changed and proposals have been made to report nuisance,” said the municipality in the council letter.
The landowners and local interest found it difficult to continue the project. The planned location is in private ownership. According to the municipality, these owners have indicated that sufficient support in the village was a condition for cooperating with the plan. The college joined this, so that the plan has now been deleted.
It turned out not to be the only reason. For example, according to the council letter, the forest area is considered less suitable for the route and there is overdue maintenance.
