Chicago wins with Meesseman in Las Vegas after the best comeback ever in WNBA

The defending champions defeated the league leader Los Angeles Aces 95-104.

The win was all the more remarkable as it was only the Nevada club’s second loss at its home arena this season and its third in 16 games. Las Vegas took the best start, leading 41-18 after the first quarter. Chicago was even 28 points behind (51-23 in the second quarter) at one point but fought all the way back and even broke the WNBA record for best comeback. Chicago held the previous record since 2013 when it closed a 25-point gap.

The second and third quarter turned out in Chicago’s favor (21-33 and especially 11-30 in the third quarter), so that when the last period started, Meesseman and co. led 73-81. The West Flemish had 17 points and six rebounds. Julie Allemand played her fifth game with her new team. In ten minutes she handed out six assists. Chicago remains third in the standings with 11 wins against five losses, behind Las Vegas (13-3) and Connecticut (12-5). The next game for the two Belgian Cats will be against the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday.
