“Cheers, because ninety is the new sixty!”: Frans and Hubert celebrate lifelong friendship with a smile and a tear

“Never has a crooked word fallen.” From in kindergarten to their ninetieth birthday, Frans Verhas and Hubert Brusselmans already share joys and sorrows. And so their children attracted them on Sunday with an excuse to a party room in the East Flanders Sint-Gillis-Bij-Dendermonde, where family and friends were waiting for them with a big surprise party. The handkerchiefs were quickly brought out. “We grew up together, have done mischief and still see each other every week. That says a lot, isn’t it?”
