Ask Einstein about the details of his theories or ask Sherlock Holmes for help with a criminal case? A new app based on ChatGPT makes it possible.
Chat with Cleopatra
New AI applications are created and launched almost every day. Italian company Gorilla Technologies has now created an app called Superchat for iPhone and Mac that allows users to chat with historical and fictional characters. Because the app was designed as a messenger app, it is possible to have multiple chats at the same time. The app is powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT program and includes a wide range of personalities, ranging from historical greats like Albert Einstein, Shakespeare and Cleopatra, to fictional characters from books and comics like Sherlock Holmes and Cinderella, to Zeus and other mythological figures are sufficient. The app also offers the option of using AI support for specific questions. A personal assistant named Aria, a gardener, a programmer or a lawyer are available for this purpose.
Expensive and unsatisfactory answers
While some of the characters are available for free, others can be unlocked through a premium subscription. The costs for this start at 1.54 euros per week if users opt for an annual subscription. A weekly premium subscription costs significantly more and is 7.99 euros per week. The app has received mixed feedback so far. The comparatively high price and the not particularly original responses of the AI bots are seen as deficient. Other reviews are more positive. In any case, the app, which is more of a gimmick, gives a foretaste of what will be possible in the near future. So it is conceivable that personal AI assistants could take a permanent place in the smartphone of every cell phone user.
