The Grammys are among the most important and most renowned music prices that the world has to offer. In 2026 the award ceremony will take place for the 68th time. On February 1, 2026, the Awards will be awarded at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. For Germany this is the night to February 2. Changes to the Grammys: There will be these new categories
“The top priority of the Academy is to represent the music lovers that we serve every year,” said Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy. For this reason, the “Best Albumcover” category is available for the first time in 2026. Mason also explained that the members were listened to exactly. So one wants to ensure that the rules and guidelines reflect today’s music and enable as many deserved artists to be distinguished as possible.
Another innovation is the renaming of the “Best Country album” category into “Best Contemporary Country Album”. In addition, there is the introduction of the “Best traditional country album” price. In the future there will also be only one award for the “Best Reciting Package”. Previously there had been “Best Recording Package” and “Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package”.
More prices for more recognition
Harvey Mason Jr. also told “Grammy.com” that when checking the awards and nominations, one concentrates every year to refine the rules, disclose everything that no longer work and ensure that the creative community is celebrated in the most sensible way. “I am thrilled that many of this year’s changes make it possible for us to honor even more creative people. This is always a positive result for me,” reports the recording academy CEO. These innovations also ensure that those who make a significant contribution to the musical process are appropriately recognized.
In the classic categories, for example, composers and textproof/librettists are now qualified for a grammy award in addition to all other important creatives such as artists, producers and sound technicians of the winning albums.
Who is allowed?
To standardize the 68th Grammys, all works that have appeared or will appear in the period between August 31, 2024 and August 2025 are published.
