Youssoufa Moukoko leaves Borussia Dortmund and joins the Danish champion FC Copenhagen.
As BVB announced, the 20-year-old striker completes his medical check with his new employer on Saturday. In Copenhagen, Moukoko receives a contract until 2030.
“For us, Youssoufa is a very special player who was significantly involved in winning titles in the youth area and has shaped our NLZ for years with its professional attitude at a young age,” said Dortmund’s sports director Lars. “After a loan that has not brought the desired success, we wish him a successful fresh start in Copenhagen and a sporting environment that enables him to fully exploit his without any doubt.”
Only two goals in Nice
Moukoko was last loaned at the OGC Nice. The French first division team had not used a purchase option for the World Cup participant from 2022 at an alleged amount of 18 million euros. Last season Moukoko scored two goals for Nice in 22 competitive games and prepared three more.
Moukoko switched from the youth of FC St. Pauli to BVB in 2016. He scored 18 goals in 99 games for the professionals and assisted eight more. At 16 and 28 days, he is the youngest Bundesliga shooter in history.
Moukoko: “Not easy to say goodbye”
“Two hearts are beating in my breast. It is not easy to say goodbye to a club like BVB, because this club, my teammates, coaches, sponsors and the great fans will always mean me a lot,” Moukoko is quoted in the BVB announcement. “On the other hand, after a difficult year in France, it is time to start fully with optimism and incredibly ambition in a new place. The FC Copenhagen offers me all opportunities.”
