After Horst Steffen’s commitment as head coach, Werder Bremen brought the next important contract conclusion under the roof and subject.

As the Bundesliga club announced on Thursday, Raphael Duarte reinforced the Werder Bremen coaching team. The Luxembourger becomes the new CO of Horst Steffen, with whom he previously worked extremely successfully at SV Elversberg.

According to “Bild”, the SVW transfers 100,000 euros for the 29-year-old.

“Raphael was Horst Steffen’s desired candidate. They worked very well and very trustingly in Elversberg and we are glad that we were able to reach Eldversberg,” Bremen’s managing director Clemens Fritz was quoted in a club announcement.

Duarte is a “young, innovative trainer who is a very good addition to Horst for us and has already gained a lot of experience at a high level at his age,” continued Fritz.

The new Steffen assistant also had their say in the message: “I am really looking forward to this task at this wonderful club and the further cooperation with Horst. I am also very excited to get to know the team and the staff of Werder.”

Werder Bremen wants millions of RB Leipzig

Meanwhile, the Bremeners are still negotiating with RB Leipzig about the transfer for Ole Werner, Horst Steffens predecessor on the Weser. After the success coach had announced that he would no longer want to extend his working paper in 2026, Werder separated from him.

Werner is said to be on the radar of the Saxons for a long time, but was recently moved to the top on the shortlist of the red bulls because candidates such as CESC Fàbregas, Oliver Glasner or Jacob Neestrup were not available.

After a catastrophic season, RB wants to go back to international business with seventh place next year. However, a sum in the millions is probably due to get Werner. An exit clause in his contract should have recently expired.
