Coach Marco Rose from the Bundesliga soccer club RB Leipzig pays no attention to the rumors about a possible departure of star player Christopher Nkunku.
“It’s speculation, we don’t comment on it. We don’t care, we don’t care,” said Rose before the third group game in the Champions League against Celtic Glasgow (Wednesday, 6:45 p.m. / DAZN).
According to a report by The Athletic, Nkunku is facing a move to Chelsea. Accordingly, the 24-year-old Frenchman signed a preliminary contract with the Londoners.
Nkunku only extended his contract with the DFB Cup winners in the summer until 2026.
Against Glasgow, Nkunku should help RB achieve the important first win in the premier class. “It’s not unimportant to win the direct duel,” said Rose.
Leipzig had lost the first two games against Shakhtar Donetsk (1:4) and defending champions Real Madrid (0:2). “If we don’t get any points, it will be very difficult,” said Rose, looking ahead to progress.
Rose expects the Scottish guests with an offensive orientation. Celtic play “very, very actively football” and bring “a lot of speed into the actions”, said the coach: “It’s fun to watch them.”
