A possible change from Eintracht Frankfurt’s Aurélio Buta to Panathinaikos Athens was practically sealed. According to information from Sport1, the 28-year-old had passed the medical test at the Greek top club, the clubs agreed on a transfer fee of 1.5 million euros. But immediately before the contract was concluded, there was apparently a withdrawal from Panathinaikos.

According to the report, the Greek association referred to a knee injury from the 2021/2022 season, which at that time resulted in an operation for Buta. This has suddenly become a topic again. According to Sport1 and the “Bild” newspaper, this was enough for the Greeks to register. Frankfurt apparently interpreted this approach as an attempt to subsequently negotiate better conditions. But sports director Markus Krösche stayed with the original line and therefore ended the conversations.

Although Buta was already on site and took care of a new apartment in Athens, the change was shattered at the last minute. The full -back will return to harmony for the time being. According to media reports, there should be interest in an obligation of the defender, which can be used in a variably usable manner, from Union Berlin and Hamburger SV.

Butta switched from the Belgian Royal Antwerp club to Frankfurt in 2022. In the past season he was loaned at Stade Reims. In Ligue 1 he came to 31 missions and posted an assist.
