Chanceless afternoon FC Volendam visiting FC Twente

FC Volendam therefore had a good start to 2023 for the away match against FC Twente and went to Enschede with confidence. That hope could be thrown in the trash within twenty minutes. The evening became even more painful, after Mees Hilgers scored 3-0. It even seemed to be 4-0, but Ricky van Wolfswinkel was offside in the run-up. The visitors became dangerous twice through Robert Mühren. The Volendam striker just didn’t have his sights sharp.

The Tukkers hardly needed time to acclimatize in the second half. They remained the most dangerous team. For example, Cerny shot full on the post next to Filip Stankovic from a promising position. Manfred Ugalde then outplayed Stankovic, but did not shoot the ball into the goal. Michel Vlap, another substitute, aimed the ball at the crossbar. Volendam could only counter this with a long shot from Bilal Ould-Chikh.

In the final phase, Stankovic had to save on a shot from Pröpper, but the team from Volendam could no longer change the score. Despite the defeat, Volendam remains fifteenth in the ranking. Vitesse is the next opponent next Saturday.
