The Drenthe Security Region (VRD) has increased the alarm phase to phase 2 on the nature fire risk card. This means that there is active communication about the growing risk of natural fires as a result of the continuing drought.
With the increasing drought in Drenthe, the danger of natural fires is also increasing. That says Theo de Jong, firefighter and adviser for natural fires at the Drenthe Safety Region. “Following other regions in the Netherlands, the drought is also increasing here.”
Since last night, Drenthe has officially switched to phase 2. De Jong explains: “This does not mean that the fire brigade deployment is changing, because in phase 1 we always use high in natural fires. The difference is that we are now entering the so -called ‘public phase’. This means extra communication about the dangers of natural fires.
In phase 2, for example, stricter rules can be entered, such as a ban on firing open fire or other forms of fire hazard. Phase 2 was already in force in other parts of the Netherlands, such as Noord-Brabant and various coastal areas. From today this also applies to Drenthe.
