The Scudetto goes back to southern Italy: SSC Naples won the showdown on the last day of Serie A – also thanks to spectacular gates.
Napoli won 2-0 (1-0) in the Diego Maradona Stadium at home against Cagliari Calcio and kept defending champion Inter at a distance. Scott McTominay via the side puller (42nd) and Romelu Lukaku (51st) met for Naples, who won the SCUDETTO for the fourth time after 1987 and 1990.
The starting point was already expected. Naples led the league with just one point before defending champion Inter Milan. A victory in the last game against the table 14. From Cagliari, the fourth national title would be enough. “The win of the Scudetto would be the reward for all the efforts that I have made this season. I know that I am very tired and that I can just do it until the end of the season”said coach Antonio Conte before the game, which he could only follow from the stands because of a lock.
Naples makes and is under pressure
And he saw that after a few nervous starting minutes, his team took command in the sold -out stadium “Diego Armando Maradona”. Naples stood out in half of Cagliaris – and had five degrees on the property after a quarter of an hour. In contrast, Cagliari did not even shot on the goal in the entire first half, but the Sarde defended all the more passion. And the pressure on Naples rose because Inter Milan had taken the lead early in the parallel game against Como and the flash table cited.

The SSC still got a top -class opportunity after the other, especially Leonardo Spinazzola made a lot of steam over the left side.
More spectacular Lead goal, Lukaku brachial
After 42 minutes the stadium exploded, but after an attack on the right side. Matteo Politano hit an excellent flank onto the strong Scott Mctominay – and the Scot, which was so dangerous to score, spectaciously graduated: 1-0.
In the 51st minute the big moment came from Romelu Lukaku. The beefy attacker got the ball at the center line and shook two defenders in a brutal speed run and finally pushed ice cold to 2-0. A gate of pure strength.
There was no stopping on the ranks and on the sidelines, the game seemed decided, especially since Naples had further top chances, while Cagliari continued to agree.
After the final whistle, all dams finally broke at Naples. Pyrotechnics were ignited around the stadium, on which the square danced the players – and coaches Conte and his striker Lukako hugged.
Naples defensively bear strong
With 27 goals conceded, Naples defense was the absolute highlight of the team of coach Conte – and the clearly best of the series A. 19 times played Naples too zero.
In the end, it was not so important that the SSC offensive only scored 59 goals. For comparison: Inter Milan hit 79 times.
