Paris (AP) – Club president Florentino Pérez praised goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and coach Carlo Ancelotti after Real Madrid’s Champions League victory.
“Courtois has had a spectacular season, he’s a big Real Madrid fan and for me the best goalkeeper in the world, that’s why we signed him,” said Pérez after the 1-0 win against Liverpool on Sunday night in the final venue Paris. Meanwhile, ex-Bayern coach Ancelotti is “a good conductor who knows the psychology of the players, Real Madrid and football very well”.
Pérez did not want to deal with the Frenchman Kylian Mbappé, who will remain with Paris Saint-Germain and will not switch to the Spaniards in the coming season. “Real will always work to have the best players, but Mbappé is already forgotten,” said Pérez: “Real had a perfect season.”
Both winning the Spanish championship and the recent coup in the premier class are not due to a single person, emphasized the 75-year-old: “We have very good players, the credit belongs to everyone. I’m happy and satisfied, like all the fans .” Real “fought and worked hard to be here this season,” said Pérez, summing up: “It was a good season in general.
