Frankfurt’s Toppmöller misses press conference

Eintracht Frankfurt has to do without its head coach. Dino Toppmöller is staying away from public training and the press conference because of a cold.
Hotel bed instead of a press conference: Eintracht Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmöller had to take an unplanned break before the Champions League duel on Tuesday at SSC Napoli due to a cold (from 6.45 p.m. in the t-online live ticker). Jan Fießer therefore took over the representation at the obligatory press conference. “With Dino, I’m sure he’ll be on the sidelines in great shape and full of energy,” said Toppmöller’s assistant coach optimistically the day before the encounter.
According to club spokesman Bartosz Niedzwiedzki, Toppmöller, who was in poor health, used his own row of seats on the flight to Italy and wore a mask. “He’s trying to get well and healthy again by tomorrow.”
Eintracht wants to end their crazy series in the premier class at the Italian champions and leaders Naples. After the 5-1 opening win against Galatasaray Istanbul, there were two 1-5 defeats at Atlético Madrid and against Liverpool FC. “It’s a bit strange. I hope it won’t be the case again,” said Fießer: “I think we’ve learned from the last Champions League games. We’re here to win.”
A sense of achievement should also be possible without loud fan support.
