Status: 09/20/2022 9:00 p.m

The women of FC Bayern have one foot in the group stage of the Champions League. Coach Alexander Straus’ team won the first leg at Spanish runners-up Real Sociedad 1-0. Lea Schüller scored the goal of the day.

Successful start for the Bayern women in the Champions League: In the first leg of the second and last qualifying round, the Munich team defeated Spanish runners-up Real Sociedad 1-0. Lea Schüller, who scored the decisive goal in the 45th minute, became the match winner in front of 11,500 spectators.

Lohmann and Dallmann in the starting XI

Compared to the Bundesliga opener against Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayern coach Alexander Straus changed his starting eleven in two positions: Sydney Lohmann moved into the starting eleven for the corona-positive Sarah Zadrazil. Linda Dallmann was also used instead of Lina Magull.

The guests from Munich got into the game well. Carolin Simon scored the first dangerous shot in the 9th minute. Her free-kick went just wide of Elene Lete Para’s goal. It was a game of equals. After half an hour, Dallmann had the opening goal on the foot after a wonderful solo, when she first passed the Spanish keeper, but ultimately failed on the aluminum post.

Pause guidance by Schüller

Shortly before the half-time whistle, the women from Munich made it 1-0. Klara Bühl served Schüller, who overtook her opponent and confidently executed the ball into the left corner. After the change of sides, the Munich team tried to improve, but Giulia Gwinn (51st) and Bühl (56th) missed the 2-0.

After about an hour, the Spaniards got better and better into the game. The Bayern women increasingly focused on the defensive. The Real Sociedad team created outstanding chances. The Munich team were lucky in the 65th and 71st minutes when Nerea Eizagirre failed twice over the crossbar. So it remained exciting until the end, with the better ending for the Munich team.

Second leg on September 29 in Munich

The second leg in Munich will take place on September 29 at the Bayern campus. Kick-off is at 7 p.m.
