Chamber majority supports law that makes cultivation of embryos possible, hoping for medical breakthroughs

A majority of the House of Representatives has voted in favor of the bill by D66 and VVD that makes embryo cultivation for research possible. The initiators hope that this will lead to medical breakthroughs that will improve IVF treatments and allow hereditary diseases to be detected early. ChristenUnie and SGP argued fervently against the proposal prior to the vote.
