The House of Representatives has appointed D66 leader Rob Jetten as formateur of the incoming cabinet. A motion received support from a large majority on Tuesday evening. Usually the formateur also becomes prime minister, although this was not the case with the Schoof cabinet.
With the motion, the House also implicitly gives the minority coalition the green light. The Party for the Animals and DENK, among others, did not support the proposal.
Udenaar Jetten can become the first Brabant Prime Minister of the Netherlands since Dries van Agt. He headed three cabinets between 1977 and 1982.
