Celta Vigo, the Spanish 1st Football League (LaLiga) team, brought Rafael Benitez to the coaching position.


Celta Vigo Club announced that they have signed a deal with 63-year-old Spanish coach Benitez for the coaching position vacated by Carlos Carvalhal.


Having worked in teams such as Valencia, Liverpool, Inter, Chelsea, Napoli, Real Madrid and Newcastle United, Benitez recently coached Everton.


Benitez, who won the championship with Liverpool in the 2004-2005 UEFA Champions League, the final of which was played in Istanbul, also played twice in the UEFA Europa League, LaLiga, Italy Super Cup, once in the UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Clubs World Cup, England Federation Cup, in the teams he coached. He had Community Shield and Italian Cup victories.


Celta Vigo, who collected 43 points in LaLiga last season, was in 13th place, 3 points above the relegation line.
