In almost one in four municipalities in Flanders, the municipal swimming pool has been closed in the past twenty years. This is evident from figures from Flemish MP Brecht Warnez (CD&V). The construction and operation of swimming pools is becoming unfeasible for more and more municipalities. That is why CD&V is putting a rescue plan on the table. The party insists, among other things, on a Flemish fund that provides basic financing.
