French and Italian sign contract with the telephone squad until 2026

The young Spanish rider joins the team for two seasons

Movistar continues to outline its team for next season and after presenting three young talents on Wednesday, this Thursday it announced new additions to the telephone ranks: the French Rémi Cavagna, the Italian Davide Formolo and the Spanish Javier Romo.

The Frenchman, current time trial champion of his country, left Soudal Quick-Step, in which he played for seven seasons, and signed until 2026. “It is a new challenge for me. Coming to the Movistar Team is entering a team that is part of the history of cycling, with such important riders who have passed through its ranks. I am very proud to come here, and I come hungry for victories and ready to give my all for the group,” said the Frenchman. For his part, the Italian climber, who arrives from the UAE Emirates, has also been linked to the team until 2026. “I think that a team like Movistar Team is the ideal place for the type of rider I am. I think I can play an important role in supporting the team leaders in the Grand Tours, and at the same time, look for results in one-day tests or wherever the team is needed,” said the Italian. With Formolo, the telephones there are ten WorldTour experience campaigns and very thick results.

Finally, Romo, Spanish under-23 champion, signs a two-season contract. “I seek to put into practice what I have learned these three years in Astana, and having the extra motivation of racing for the leading Spanish team in the top category is a great incentive.“said the athlete after hearing the news.

Despite suffering two injuries in 2023 – a maxillary fracture and fistula due to a fall in Itzulia and a broken vertebra in La Vuelta -, Javier Romo has shown this year the details that motivated his jump: best youngster, and 7th overall, in the Vuelta a Burgos.
