The Arro Ypres police checked 2,500 drivers, more than five hundred were in violation. A sad outlier was a driver with a corrected speed of 116 per hour in built-up areas, where you are only allowed fifty. Someone was also flashed at 101 per hour in zone 50. Seven drivers had to surrender their driver’s license. Striking, says Arro Ypres police: people drove much too fast, especially during checks in the late evening.
“Our drawing attention to the flash marathon caused quite a bit of discussion and polemic. Unfortunately, many drivers did not understand the lesson,” the police wrote on its Facebook page.
