The 21-year-old playmaker Nicolás Castro from Newell’s Old Boys was probably about to move to Eintracht Frankfurt. But a deal never materialized. Now the SBU is threatened with a lawsuit from the Argentine club.
The “Frankfurter Rundschau” first reported on Frankfurt’s interest in Castro in mid-June. Accordingly, the medical check should have taken place in the same month.
But it didn’t come to that, the Eintracht bosses refrained from transferring the attacking midfielder, which would have cost around four million euros.
Now Ignacio Astore, President of Newell’s Old Boy, is making serious allegations against the SGE. According to the club boss, Frankfurt and the Argentine club had already agreed on a transfer.
“On the Castro issue we are a little surprised because Frankfurt made a formal offer to Newell’s about 25 days ago and Newell’s replied 72 hours before the offer expired and accepted the player’s amount,” Astore said in an interview with “Radio del Plata” and went on to explain: “Then we emailed them to exchange documents and see when they wanted Nico in Germany. We haven’t received an answer as of today, but they have until July 1st to close the deal.”
The president even threatened Frankfurt with a lawsuit: “If the deal doesn’t go through, we will take legal action against the German club.”
Eintracht Frankfurt reacts “surprised” but “relaxed”
But according to “kicker”, Eintracht does not have to worry seriously. Although sports director Markus Krösche was interested in Castro, an agreement was never reached. That’s why people in Frankfurt reacted “surprised” but “relaxed” to the threats, according to the specialist magazine.
Krösche and coach Oliver Glasner recently emphasized that Frankfurt will only sign new players if other professionals leave the club. Ajdin Hrustic and Goncalo Paciência are considered candidates for sale.
