Rafa Nadal’s student adds his first title of the season

The Norwegian Casper Ruud, 5th in the world ranking, was proclaimed champion of the Estoril Open today after beating the Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic (40th) in two sets in the final, thus succeeding the Argentine Sebastián Báez.

Ruud was the top seed in this ATP 250 tournament on clay and he met expectations this Sunday, when he beat Kecmanovic without difficulty in the first set 6-2.

The second set was more suffered and the Serbian presented more opposition, but in the end it was Ruud who took the victory, by 7-6(3).

Ruud, 24, added his first trophy of this season, to a list of winners that already had nine other titles, including those of Geneva (2), Buenos Aires (2) and Gstaad (2). Last year, the Scandinavian reached the final of Roland Garros and the US Open.
