The 24-year-old American-Dutch swimmer set a time of 55.85 seconds. The Turk Emre Sakci came second in 56.22 and the bronze went to the Austrian Luka Mladenovic: 56.27. Koen de Groot did not get further than the sixth fastest time (56.58).

Corbeau improved the world record in the 200 meter breaststroke at the World Cup competitions in Toronto at the end of October. In the summer he finished fourth in the 100 meter breaststroke at the World Long Track Championships. He won bronze in the 200 meter breaststroke, just like a year earlier at the Olympic Games.

Silver in 4×50 meter medley

The Netherlands won silver in the 4×50 meter mixed medley. Maaike de Waard, Corbeau, Sean Niewold and Marrit Steenbergen achieved a time of 1.36.18, which was slightly slower than Italy: 1.36.09.

Maaike de Waard narrowly missed out on a medal in the 50 meter butterfly. The 29-year-old from Vlaardingen clocked a time of 24.97 seconds and finished fourth. The difference with number 3 Beryl Gastaldello was four hundredths of a second. The victory went to the Danish Martine Damborg: 24.61.

Marrit Steenbergen

Marrit Steenbergen qualified second for the final of the 200 meter freestyle. She completed her race in 1.53.35. Only the British Freya Colbert was faster: 1.51.94. Imani de Jong did not reach the final with a time of 1.55.94.

Steenbergen also reached the final of the 100 meter individual medley. With 57.96 she was the fastest in the semi-finals. Tessa Giele finished fourth with 58.12 and is therefore also in the final.
