The shock of the New Year’s Eve riots is still having an impact. Now a list with details of the deeds has been published. This shows once again how brutally police officers and firefighters were attacked.
At the “summit against youth violence” by the governing Franziska Giffey, experts proposed solutions. On the one hand, there is a need for more youth meeting places where social interaction is practiced, and on the other hand, faster procedures and penalties that hurt. Carrot and stick so to speak.
The district mothers are a successful model. A project by a group of women of Turkish origin who helped families to take part in social life.
One thing is clear: the locals have to do a lot more to integrate the newcomers from foreign cultures. Nothing happens by itself.
