It caused some frustration for Nieuwsuur presenter Mariëlle Tweebeeke: there was quite a bit of noise on the line during her interview with Caroline van der Plas. “It came out of her bra.”
Caroline van der Plas was perfectly audible during her interview with Nieuwsuur, but there was a lot of noise when she was in the show. The show’s host, Mariëlle Tweebeeke, asked the BBB leader at one point: “Is your phone there?” Caroline: “Yes.” Mariëlle: “Yes, that is a bit annoying.”
Bra bothers
An employee will immediately pick up Caroline’s phone. “Oh, is that a bit annoying? I did put it on airplane mode. Sorry about that.”
However, after that moment, noise remains on the line. What was going on now? Political reporter Elodie Verweij talks at the table Pauw & De Wit: “That security is of course terrible and such insinuations are of course all terrible, but what turned out? So she always has a panic button with her and it was in her bra.”
Taken out
Caroline found that out quite late. “So at one point she thought: oh, shoot, of course it’s here! And then she took it out and neatly gave it to the recording director.”
Talk show host Jeroen Pauw: “She puts all kinds of things in her bra, right?”
Elodie: “Yes, exactly. I have also seen Fisherman’s Friend in it. It is unprecedented.”
Panic button
Co-host Tim de Wit then asks about the well-known route. “What is a panic button?”
Finally, Elodie: “If there is real danger, she can immediately press that button so that the police come to her. It’s all terrible, but you see in such a situation that air can get in every now and then and that is nice to see.”
