Carnival parade in As becomes an emotional tribute to Timo (8) and Esmée (6) who died in a caravan fire

Brightly colored cars, exuberant costumes and heavy beats traveled through the streets of As in Limburg today. Yet this carnival procession was different from other years. Each float was decked out with three white balloons: “Two for the deceased children Timo and Esmée, but we should certainly not forget the sister Emma.” The carnivalists held a minute’s silence during a tribute today to show their support. “We will try to enjoy ourselves because the family wants that too, but of course it will be with a laugh and a tear today.”
