A safety car with ten laps to go gave Sainz the chance to make a quick pit stop and get fresh tires. After the restart it turned out to be a golden opportunity, because Leclerc had not entered and could do little else on his worn tires than let the faster Sainz pass. ,,And Lewis Hamilton could have won this race too, I understood. It was a difficult race, had little balance in the beginning, but the safety car suddenly gave me the chance to go for the win and I took that opportunity.”
