Carlos Alcaraz, who is in the second place in the world rankings, lost 2-1 to Alexander Zverev in his first match at the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Finals, in which he participated for the first time.
In the ATP Finals, one of the most important tournaments of the season hosted by Pala Alpitour in Turin, Italy, Spanish Alcaraz and number 7 seed German Zverev met in the Singles Red Group.
Zverev started the tournament with a victory by defeating Alcaraz 2-1 with sets of 6-7, 6-3 and 6-4 after a fight that lasted 2 hours and 31 minutes.
In the other match, Russian Daniil Medvedev, the number 3 seed, beat his compatriot, the number 5 seed Andrey Rublev, 2-0 after the sets of 6-4 and 6-2, and became the leader in his group after the first matches.
