The streetwear label Carhartt WIP has opened a new store in the Glockenbachviertel in Munich. The brand now operates two shops in the city – the first shop is located in the Schwabing district.
The new, 120 square meter business in Reichenbachstrasse was designed by the Milan architecture firm Andrea Caputto together with Salomée Faeh. Salomée and Edwin Faeh founded the European version of the US workwear label in 1994.
One of the highlights of the new store is the striking wooden facade, which is a tribute to traditional Bavarian architecture. This aesthetics can be found inside the entire shop, with shelves and floors made of solid wood, while display tables made of marble and steel installations show industrial details that reflect the brand’s utilitarian roots.
In order to celebrate the opening, Carhartt Wip has worked with the artist Jay Daniel Wright, born in Great Britain and living in Germany, to design a number of exclusive articles, including a sweatshirt with a hood, a T-shirt and a carrier bag as well as a number of wooden trailers. The artist has also created two sculptures that are inspired by the folkloric boards and are permanently exhibited in business.
