With her surprising resignation in ski jumping, Marita Kramer made a bang. The former overall World Cup winner revealed the decision for her like a liberation.
“It is very liberating and now feels realistic,” Marita Kramer ordered her career end to ski jumping in an interview with the “ORF”.
In this context, the 23-year-old spoke of the “absolutely correct” decision.
“I didn’t think of the ski jump at the top, where are my skis, but rather, like Crazy, that it was my whole life,” said Kramer at the press appointment at the Innsbruck Bergisel hill.
Ski jumping: Diseases brake Marita Kramer
The Austrian was able to celebrate great success in ski jumping. In the 2021/22 season, she crowned herself as an overall World Cup winner. In 2021, Kramer became the world champion in the team with the Austrian national team.

The ski jumper missed the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing due to a positive Corona test. Then Kramer was also slowed down by diseases.
“It was painful to be so powerless because my body was permanently ill. I noticed that I want, but it doesn’t work anymore. I had to watch the energy disappear,” said the ex-winter athlete about the difficult time.
The conviction is missing
“In order for you to be at the top, you need this complete conviction, not just a hundred percent, but 120, 130. You really have to want it. I noticed that something in me no longer wants a hundred percent,” said Kramer.
The 23-year-old lacks this conviction, which is why she ends in ski jumping a few months before 2026. “My head wanted to finish the story, but it was as if I was gap with (attracted, edited, editor),” she said.
