At the beginning of the afternoon, a short but severe car fire caused a considerable traffic jam on the Afsluitdijk near Den Oever. At the peak, the delay amounted to less than an hour.
Little is left of the burning car. The flames quickly spread and damaged the car beyond repair. It is not yet clear what caused the fire.
Road closed
The road had to be closed for a long time due to the fire and the extinguishing work of the fire brigade. The traffic in the direction of Den Oever had no direction. As a result, the delay quickly increased.
The fire was quickly extinguished, allowing the road to be reopened after about twenty minutes. The long traffic jam was quickly resolved.
