A car got off the road on Friday evening and ended up in a ditch along a road at Maren-Kessel. It went wrong around a quarter to eleven.

The driver, who was alone in the car, lost control of the steering wheel. The car then hit a tree on the right side of the road, shot over a cycle path and finally came to a halt in the ditch.

Nitrous oxide
An oncoming car, containing a family with two children, could barely avoid the crashed car. The parents immediately offered first aid and managed to get the driver out of the crashed car. The children were shocked.

Laughing gas bottles were found in the crashed car. The police suspect that the driver was driving under the influence of laughing gas. He was taken to a hospital.

Seal
The road was temporarily closed. A recovery company has taken the crashed car.
