Glodis Perla Viggosdottir has become an integral part of Munich. The captain and defense chief signs a new contract.
Glodis Perla Viggosdottir remains loyal to FC Bayern. The captain has extended her contract with the German champions by two years – until the summer of 2028.
The 30-year-old central defender has been playing in Munich for four and a half years and came from FC Rosengård in Malmö. She has led the team onto the pitch as captain since 2024. With Bayern, Viggosdottir has won three championships, the DFB Cup and the Supercup twice.
“I’m very happy and proud to have been part of this team for so long. The cohesion and special atmosphere at Bayern are unique – that’s exactly what makes this club so special for me. The responsibility as captain has allowed me to grow both personally and athletically in recent years,” said the national player from Iceland.
Bianca Rech, director of women’s football at FC Bayern, praised the experienced defender: “She is a central building block of our team, both athletically and personally. Her professionalism, her team spirit and her reliability set her apart and make her an important support. Glódís lives FC Bayern’s values on and off the pitch and gives everything every day for mutual success.”
