Dresden (AP) – Guerino Capretti is the new coach of Dynamo Dresden. The 40-year-old ex-trainer from SC Verl will take over the post at the second division soccer team with immediate effect.

The German-Italian receives a contract until 2024, which is only valid for the 2nd division. The club announced this at a press conference. The two previous assistant coaches, Ferydoon Zandi and Heiko Scholz, will remain in their positions.

“We always have the requirement profile for coaches to develop the players. Rino has also shown that he can do that. Even in a club that has far fewer opportunities than we do. I think he’s a top solution,” explained Dynamo’s sports director Ralf Becker.

The 40-year-old Capretti succeeds Alexander Schmidt, who was released on Tuesday. The club management of the traditional Saxon club hopes that the commitment of the young coach will put an end to the negative sporting spiral. In addition, Capretti should consistently continue the path taken with young players.
