Canoe Slalom World Championships in Lee Valley: No team medal for German athletes

As of: September 19, 2023 5:25 p.m

The German slalom canoeists came away empty-handed on the first day of the World Championships in Lee Valley, England.

There was no medal for the German Canoe Association (DKV) in the non-Olympic team competitions. In the canoe, women and men came sixth, while in the kayak things went even worse for women (8th) and men (7th).

Last year, the DKV starters won two golds and one silver at the home game in Augsburg. “I don’t see any problems with the individual races, the world looks different then.”said head coach Klaus Pohlen after the disappointing start.

Not the right attitude

Due to the home advantage in Augsburg it will be 2022 “One or two weaknesses have certainly been covered up“, on Tuesday (September 19th, 2023) “The correct setting was not found“.

At the facility in London, which was built for the 2012 Olympic Games, things won’t get really serious until Friday. Then it’s about the individual medals and quota places for Paris 2024.
