A year ago, Jessica Fox triumphed in Paris and won gold several times. Medals for the 31-year-old are currently out of the question.
Olympic champion Jessica Fox has to take a forced break just a few weeks before the World Slalom World Championship in Australia. The 31-year-old had to be removed a tumor on the kidney.
Jessica Fox spoke up after the operation on Instagram: “The last few weeks have been turbulent, but I am fine. I only have a few ugly new scars and a little less kidney, all the more perseverance.”
Fox had won gold at the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024 both in the kayak-one and in the Canadian one. She had already been an Olympic champion in the Canadier in Tokyo. Overall, the Australian has 14 world championship titles in her career so far.
Fox will not be there at the upcoming World Cups – at the weekend in Tacen in Slovenian and a week later. It is still unclear whether she can start at the home World Cup in the Penrith Whitewater Stadium from September 29 to October 4th.
Fox said her association that she was positive and looking forward to driving home, concentrating on the recovery and then working on a return to the water.
Ian Chesterman, President of the Australian Olympic Committee, said Jessica Fox was an incredibly resistant person. She faced the situation with determination and combat power – the way you know it. He is looking forward to seeing her again soon in the competition.
