Former world champion Fabio Cannavaro now trains the national team of Uzbekistan. This was announced by the Football Association of the Central Asian Land, but did not provide any information about the duration of the contract.
The 52 -year -old Cannavaro is scheduled to look after the team at the World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico next summer. Uzbekistan takes part in a World Cup finals for the first time.
Cannavaro had recently trained the Croatian traditional club Dinamo Zagreb, but was released in April this year after less than four months of term. The former defense star only gained experience as a national coach in China, where he worked as an interim coach for a month in 2013.
The Uzbek Association was looking for a new head coach after the resignation of Slovenen Srecko Katanec (62) due to health problems.
