Joost Hoebink, number 33 on the VVD electoral list, spoke critically about his own party on Saturday. In a message at LinkedIn Hoebink, chairman and discussion leader by profession, writes that the VVD is “burying itself” and is “stuck in its own right”. In the same message he calls on his followers to continue to vote for the VVD.

Hoebink writes that he hears every day about “breaking points and the exclusion of parties”. He doesn’t mention any names.

His party leader Dilan Yesilgöz has consistently emphasized in recent weeks that he does not want to be in a cabinet with GroenLinks-PvdA. Ruben Brekelmans, outgoing Minister of Defense on behalf of the VVD, said on Friday evening Café Kockelmann that the VVD will not join a cabinet with a bloc of GroenLinks-PvdA, CDA and D66.

Hoebink believes he no longer recognizes his party, yet he calls on his followers on LinkedIn to vote for the VVD. “Because liberalism is far too valuable to be left to populists.” Hoebink also supports the election manifesto, he writes. He added an election poster of himself to his message.

It is unlikely that Hoebink will enter the House of Representatives, given the polls. According to the latest poll guide, a weighted average of several polls, the party has twelve to sixteen seats.
