Mourning Kirstie Alley! The US acting icon died unexpectedly.

Alley’s children tweeted Monday night that she “passed away after a battle with cancer that was only recently discovered.”

The statement continued: “She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength. She leaves us with the certainty of her endless zest for life and the adventures that lie ahead. As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother.”

Her manager confirmed her death to the AP news agency. She leaves behind her children Lillie and True.

Actress became world famous with the series “Cheers”.

Alley has played numerous roles throughout her long career. The American had her breakthrough as Rebecca Howe in the cult sitcom “Cheers”, for which she stood in front of the camera from 1987 to 1993. Alley received five Emmy nominations and four Golden Globe nominations for her portrayal of Rebecca. She won both awards once each.

Now fans and Hollywood companions are mourning the exceptional actress of the 1980s. John Travolta (68) published a moving Instagram post about his late colleague, writing “I love you Kirstie.
