Cancelo-Aus at Bayern is probably finally certain

The trend in Joao Cancelo’s personnel had been clear for weeks anyway – even under the old sporting leadership at FC Bayern with Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic. Now it should have been finally decided: The Munich team will no longer plan with the loan player.

The 29-year-old, who was loaned from Manchester City to Munich in the winter, will no longer stay with the German record champions. According to a “Sky” report on Monday, Joao Cancelo had already been informed of the club’s decision.

In order to commit the Portuguese firmly, FC Bayern would have had to take a purchase option of 70 million euros. As repeatedly stated in consistent media reports, this sum is said to be much too high for the Munich team for a player who was not an undisputed regular player under either Julian Nagelsmannn or Thomas Tuchel.

Overall, the full-back played 21 competitive games for Bayern and scored one goal. At Manchester City, for whom he was on the pitch until the World Cup break, Cancelo still has a long-term contract until 2027.

Not only the 70 million clause for Cancelo had settled for the Munich around the new CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen. Going back to the Cityzens and trying to drive down the price for the player should also no longer be an option.

According to “Sky” information, Cancelo himself was no longer willing to continue his career with Munich.

In the spectacular Bundesliga final of his FC Bayern at 1. FC Köln, he came on for Thomas Müller in the second half and is now saying goodbye to FC Bayern as the German champion.
