Canadian court demands 12 years in prison for Dutchman who drove Canadian teenager to suicide Abroad

The Dutchman’s behavior had devastating consequences, according to the judiciary. C., who is already serving a sentence in the Netherlands, would show no interest in improving. There is a high risk that he will go wrong again and to protect children he must be locked up, the prosecutor says.

Canadian Amanda Todd took her own life ten years ago at the age of 15. After her death, she gained great international fame through a video she posted online. In the video, the teen explained that she had been extorted with nude images of herself. C. is held responsible for this. The Dutchman, who is not being prosecuted for her death, denies all guilt.

The Netherlands extradited C. to Canada in 2020, where a jury found him guilty. The court in New Westminster was actually supposed to determine a sentence a few weeks ago, but that fell through because a prosecutor had contracted the corona virus.

C. was previously sentenced to almost 11 years in prison in the Netherlands. He persuaded his victims, from young girls to gay men, to strip naked in front of the webcam and used those images for extortion.
