The chaos around the reopening of the Camp Nou continues. For the time being, Barcelona cannot play there as planned – and has to do without many spectators.

FC Barcelona faces a particular situation at the start of the season: The first home game cannot take place as planned in the traditional Camp Nou. The reason is a lack of permits for the stadium, which is currently comprehensively modernized.

As the club announced on Tuesday, the game against FC Valencia will therefore be moved to Estadi Johan Cruyff. The small arena only holds around 6,000 spectators. The Spanish league actually demands a minimum capacity of 8,000 seats, but it has temporarily approved the venue. However, the prerequisite is that Barça can guarantee the use of the video referee.

A return to the Olympic Stadium, where Barça has played in the past two years during the conversion of Camp Nou, is excluded at short notice. Musicians post Malone on Friday, so that no football game can take place on Sunday.

In the message, the club said that they were “intensively” working on receiving the necessary permits for the reopening of the Camp Nou. After more than two years of construction time, there is only a partial opening there without initially only 27,000 places. If the reopening is complete, the stadium should be able to grasp up to 105,000 spectators in the future. The construction work had always been delayed.
