Café owner fights for his life after stabbing: perpetrator can first escape but is later arrested | Aalst

It was around 5 a.m. Saturday morning that the manager was stabbed at a bench on Priester Daensplein, near the Martinuskerk. The man collapsed and emergency services were immediately called to the scene. He was taken to hospital in critical condition and underwent surgery. He would have been stabbed in his stomach. His condition is said to be stable.

The 30-year-old perpetrator initially ran away, but was arrested shortly after the facts. The reason for the stabbing is still unclear at this time. The perpetrator is in prison with the Aalst police and the public prosecutor has started an investigation into the circumstances. Earlier this year there were also stabbings in Aalst, including in April a man was stabbed in the drug environment.
