In a cafe in Helmond, illegal gambling activities were discovered on Thursday evening, with which a lot of money can be earned. The municipality and the Gaming Authority (KSA) are conducting research. Results of this can have consequences for the case and operating permit for the case. It is not known whether anyone has been arrested. Nor how many people were present during the raid.
The violations were found during a check by the Peelland Intervention Team (PIT), the municipality, the KSA and the police. Various investigative agencies work together in the Pit to reveal abuses.
Immediately upon arrival, employees of the KSA came across an illegal gambling column in combination with coupons of gambling transactions. The gambling column was equipped with illegal software that can be used to use sports competitions.
A gambling column is a computer with which a player can gamble on the results of a sports competition via an internet connection and special software. Gambling columns, internet columns or football columns are forbidden. Because there is no control over the honesty of the game and at the age of the participants. Nor is nothing against gambling addiction. Furthermore, due to the illegality, the KSA cannot carry out control on the money flow or the taxes.
There are tens of millions of euros in gambling columns, which often go together with serious crime and money laundering.
