Minister Beljaarts (Economic Affairs), together with State Secretary Szabó (Digitization and Kingdom Relations), will participate in Paris on Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 February 2025 in an international top about Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Paris.
The ministers are present at this so -called AI Action Summit at various sessions and have meetings with colleagues, entrepreneurs from SMEs to large companies, research institutions, governments and social organizations. There is also a joint consultation between the government leaders of various international countries on the economic opportunities and the safe and reliable operation of technology.
The cabinet has designated artificial intelligence as a strategic technology in which extra public and private investments are made. Since the summer of 2024, the AI regulation also applies in the European Union. This offers opportunities for both developers and entrepreneurs and also guarantees for European consumers.
This includes basic agreements about the functioning of AI in products and services, requirements for (possibly) risky applications and the support of developers such as SMEs. This way, Europeans can rely on AI and entrepreneurs in a targeted way with innovations.
French-Dutch economic year
After the top, Ministers Beljaarts and Lombard (Minister of Economy and Finance, France) open the French-Dutch economic year at the Dutch ambassador residence in Paris.
In view of these strong economic ties, the French and Dutch governments have decided, following President Macron’s state visit to the Netherlands in 2023, to make the Second Franco-Dutch Economic Year from 2025, ten years after the first edition in 2015. The embassies Of both countries, the lead in this ambitious cooperation, which consists of political and policy events, innovative economic initiatives and strategic dialogues between companies and investors.
